Five teenagers in search of a brain cell

I walked down to Burslem Park lake during my dinner break. Normally the only things I see there are mallards, Canada geese and the occasional Moorhen. Today, though, there were five idiots running round on the ice, walking over to the island on the middle where the birds nest and disturbing everything and generally acting as if they hadn’t got a brain cell between them (which they probably hadn’t). Sooner or later one of them is going to go through the ice, and I can’t say I’d be too sympathetic. I met a man on the way back to the office who said that they’d be dangerous if they had brains. I totally agree with him.

Fayre, but not good

I’ve just done the books and videos stall at Stoke Minster autumn fayre. It didn’t go as well as it normally does. It’s probably due to the weather to some extent, keeping people away, but there were nowhere near as many people there as we’ve had in previous years. Under the circumstances £39.85 wasn’t too bad an amount to raise, although it’s dropped off a lot in the last few years.

Run Twinkle, run!

Just helped Rachel Trpeski set up her own blog. She’s running the London marathon next year, and raising money for Victa, who help partially-sighted children. It’s a very worthy cause, so please visit her blog at runtwinklerun.wordpress.com and help her reach her target amount.

Things are slowly coming together

The funding has now come through for me to do the Race Online work that I’ve been hoping for, and I can also start the “Roving guru” job at FSC tomorrow. Maybe things are on the up!

All go!

I’ve spent most of today at Staffordshire University, on day 2 of my PTLLS course. It’s been a busy day, and I can think of nothing nicer right now than a lazy evening in. Of course, I’ve got another long meeting this evening. Ain’t that always the way.
